How to deal with difficult co-worker??

by utken . Updated 23 years, 10 months ago

Miss A is a very smart hardworker in my department. However, she also has quite an attitude when dealing with her trainee, whom she perceived as a ‘slow learner’. Her current trainee, who is our newly hired associate, has been the third person for the position in 2 years. The previous 2 left because they couldn’t tolerate with Miss A’s attitude. Being in the field for almost 5 years, she practically knows all the in’s and out’s in the company and is a very valuable person to the employer. The reason we hired the trainee is to deligate some of her responsibilities. Somehow, the tension began when the trainee’s questions about the job started to irritate her. One who tries to ask questions (perhaps sometimes too much questions) and to learn, while another gets pissed off and raised her voice against another party. Being in the same department and saw the same thing happened to the previous co-workers, I really don’t thing this is a healthy trend. In fact, my manager is someone who does not like to ‘make the wave’, and even told the trainee not to ask too much questions when Miss A isn’t in a good mood!! This is bad. It appears to me that the company cannot afford to lose Miss A, yet don’t know how to deal with this situation.
Obviously I’m just one of the employees and can’t do much about it. But, I would hope to hear some opinion from you all learn some management skills:)

Thanks.
