Boot with a boot disk from here:

      http://www.bootdisk.com.

Once booted, run the FDISK command and remove ALL partitions on the hard disk.

If you are installing XP or 2000, the boot CD will handle creating a new partition on the hard disk.

If you are using some other OS, you will have to create a new partition on the hard disk. Again, use FDISK.

      Hi Skywarn1

If you are having problems with your OS, why not try updating to Win2000 or downgrading to Win98? Deleting all of WinME by itself would render your computer inoperable. The best way to remove it is to format your drive, then try either reloading WinME or up/down-grading to 98 or 2000. Or you could simply upgrade/downgrade without removing ME.

Have you checked your drive for errors? You may have a dying drive which is causing these errors. If you are also having trouble with your Norton products it suggests that neither the Norton software nor the OS is at fault.

If your drive is OK, maybe you should check the registry as well. Normally the command for checking and fixing the registry is scanreg /fix.

Otherwise, you should be able to remove the Norton products by using Add/Removing programs in Control Panel.

If your problem persists, post the errors as a comment. Knowing which errors you are receiving will go a long way to helping us solve your problem.

      Good luck
