How to delete temp internet files all accounts

By glenn.hunter ·
I am looking for a way to cleanup all temporary internet files on my multiuser PCs. With 20 accounts on each one it can take quite some time to clean the all up. Any ideas?

Local Settings

by SAJChurchey In reply to How to delete temp intern ...

Temporary Files for Internet Explorer are stored in "C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files"

There is a setting in Internet Explorer to delete the Temporary Internet Files automatically on exit (Advanced), and consequentially there may be a GPO that corresponds to this as well. This is probably the easiest way to accomplish this.

You can probably script the removal of these on a single machine or use a logon script. If these are roaming profiles, your best bet is to get your user's to change the internet explorer setting.

Software or Batch File

by t_w_dragon In reply to How to delete temp intern ...

Perhaps the easiest way is software based. I personally love System Mechanic by Iolo. It spans multiple browsers and checks locations per user as well.

An alternative way is to create a batch file to do it for you once you have all the locations, then supress errors so that it doesn't halt on a locked file waiting for your input.

Regular use is good.

Just add a shortcut to the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

I run this batch file on startup that removes Temp files ========

:USERPROFILE
c:
cd \
cd %USERPROFILE%\"Local Settings"\"Temporary Internet Files"
del *.* /s /q
rmdir . /s /q
goto PREFETCH

REFETCH
cd \
cd %WINDIR%\PREFETCH
del *.* /s /q
goto INIT

:INIT
@echo off
setlocal
set cStatflag=0
C:

:USERTEMP
cd \
cd %TEMP%

:REMOVE
del *.* /s /q
rmdir . /s /q

:CHECK
if %cStatflag%==1 goto FINISH

:WINTEMP
cd \
cd %WINDIR%\TEMP
set cStatflag=1
goto REMOVE

:FINISH
endlocal

What is the OS?

And when do you want the cleanup to occur?

At what frequency?
