How to demote a cluster

By mujtba ·
I have a 2003 enterprise server. I configured it into a cluster. However, this is one machine and after making it a cluster server, I realized you need other servers with same OS to join a cluster. I want to now UNCLUSTERIZE this. How do I do that? There is no add/remove or uninstall cluster.

I think you can stop the Clustering service, and then go into Add/Remove Programs / Add/Remove Windows Components and remove the Cluster component.

I tried to go to stop the service and ADD/REMOVE components, but I do not see anything for clusters! Microsoft needs to make this a bit easier. I cannot accept that the only way will be to uninstall OS.

simply evict the node from cluster and then use the following command to remove the stale entries from cluster

cluster Node "NodeName" /forcecleanup.

you are good to go or rejoin
