How to disable Windows logon for Windows XP Pro SP2

By Daz'n'Ash ·
I want to disable the logon for a Windows XP Pro machine. We don't need the password there as it is a shared computer on a small network.

Install Tweakui power tool and you can set the username and password to automatically logon the computer when you boot up.

another way is to edit the registry.

here's a MS Article on how to do it http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315231/en-us

Using TweakUI is an easier way though.

You can use the start -> Run -> control userpasswords2, command, and then unselect the box for "user must provide a user name and password." once you hit ok, the system will prompt you to put in a user name, and a password that the system should log in to by default. This is much easier.
