How to do a htaccess redirect for a cold fusion website

By steveinoz01 ·
Hi
I am not a web developer so I apologise for the lack of tech knowledge! I have a website that utilises cold fusion with all pages ending .cfm. I want to redirect pages to the new .htm version of the site.

I have about 200 pages and want to redirect to specific pages on the new site doing a 301 redirect. I was expecting to be able to do this using the .htaccess using code I can find online but no matter what I try the htaccess file is ignored and the old page is displayed.

Is it possible to do this via htaccess?

Thanks

You can do it using the .htaccess file since the site is on an Apache server. Each line is structured like:
Redirect 301 /old-url http://www.example.com/new-url

Thanks for the reply.

I have tried what you suggested but it did not work. The old page still shows.

Its as though the htaccess file is being ignored.

If you have any Control panel like cPanel, you can redirect your URL to redirects option located in domain sections.
