You can't. No it isn't stored anywhere on the box it was loaded into memory when it was installed and it is gone now. Why are you looking for it anyway? There are plenty of keys floating around on the net, go to google and do a search for "Windows 2000 Pro Keys" and I am sure that you'll find one. Remember it isn't the key that you pay MS for it is the license. FYI: there are three sets of MS keys: OEM, RETAIL and DEVELOPER. Some version won't work with other versions software. i.e. OEM vs. RETAIL and so on.

You didn't say the reason, but if you lost your key and just need it to repair or reinstall then I have an answer for you. On the cd, in the i386 directory there is a file named "setupp.ini" There is a line the starts off with "pid=" followed by a series of #'s. Change the last 3 numbers to "270" and it will not ask for a cd-key. You need to remove read-only attribute before you can modify. You will also have to copy the i386 folder to your harddrive or re-burn a copy with the altered file inplace.
