Win NT I presume

by georgeanderson In reply to How to force users to log ...

NT has a number of features built in that might be able to help you. If your reason is maintaining secure PCs. Have all the users set a screen saver for whatever timeout suits you. And make sure you check the password protected box. This won't log them out but it will protect the PC from unauthorized use. The second thing you can do if you want the users to log out every night. Open User Manager for Domains and open the account policy... from one of the menus. There should be a check box for forcing logout after hours. Then change the user accounts to have a period of disallowance then any PC will logout automatically at the specified time. As for another piece of s/w I don't know of any but you could check out ZDnet.

Look in the Win2K Resource Kit

There is a file called winexit.scr. This works just like a normal screen saver however when the set time is reached, it logs the user off. Only drawback is that you will have to set a policy to make sure the user doesnt change the screensaver to something else. Make sure you read the help file that accompanies winexit as it has some helpful info.
