How to get my laptop to show my desktop image

By bfern ·
I have an XP desktop whose monitor died. I want to connect it to my Lenovo Thinkpad which has Vista 32 bit on it (instead of having to go buy anoither desktoip monitor) so I can use my laptop monitor as if it were my desktop monitor. Is there any way to do this?

If you look at second hand CRT Monitors they are piratically giving them away these days as no one wants them.

I had a customer but a 21 Inch Sony Trintron Monitor for $30.00 this week.

While you can use Remote Desktop you need to first have it setup and a LAN present. If you do not have either or both of these in place you;ll need a monitor to set them up.

Connect to another computer using Remote Desktop Connection

Get started using Remote Desktop with Windows XP Professional

Windows XP Remote Desktop Connection software [XPSP2 5.1.2600.2180]

As for setting up a LAN a simple Peer to Peer Network will suffice if you only need to add these 2 units all you need is a Crossover CAT5 Cable. But if you want to add more computers you need a Hub and as many straight through CAT5 Cables as you have computers and this is the better way to go in all honesty.
