How to get the system short date format using macros in Excel?

Hi,
I am in the process of converting date to yyyy-mmm-dd format i.e 2007-JUN-05 format. The problem i am facing is i have a date in MM/DD/YYYY U.S format in my excel sheet now if i change my system regional settings to some other country which has short date format as DD/MM/YYYY here my conversion goes wrong i.e it gets converted to 2007-MAY-06. This has been breaking my head can you people help me regarding this.
