OK what you need to know here is that the Realtech Audio Device

by OH Smeg In reply to how to install audio devi ...

That is in the Dell is not Digitally Signed unless you have a 64 Bit OS. So once you connect to the Windows Update Server you Can Not install the Sound Drivers.

There is a sequence involved in installing the OS and this includes installing the sound drivers before connecting to the Windows or Microsoft Update Servers.

However if the sound was working prior to installing this Audio Sandbox and the system is fully updated you should be able to remove that application from the Add Remove programs option in the Control Panel but if it has removed the Realtech Drivers you could be in trouble.

The Sigmatel Audio Drivers are a development of the Realtech Sound Drivers and are based on the Realtech AC97 Drivers. The newest Download is available from Dell's Web Site here

The other thing to check is what the Default Audio Device is and to do this open the Control Panel and look for the Sound & Audio Devices open this and make sure that the Sigmatel Device is selected and not something else. This is found under the Audio Tab in the Sounds & Audio Devices.
