How to install XP Home on XP Pro?

I have a friend who purchased a computer with an illegal copy of XP Pro installed. He wanted to make it legal and purchased an XP Home Edition. What is the next steps?

Backup the users Data first

It's a good time to wipe the Hard Drive for a fresh start.

The very first thing to do here is

To Backup the Users Data and then you can try a Repair/In Place Install as outlined in the directions from M$ here

While in theory this should work without problems if anything goes wrong during the install it will destroy the Users Data in the process.

Home will not conduct an in-place repair on Pro.
