How to interpret SpeedFan results?

by rangan.moremail . Updated 19 years, 1 month ago

Hi,

Would you help me interpret the data I obtained from SpeedFan?

I hear a humming/buzzing sound whenever my Compaq Presario (Model # 1516US laptop system, running WinXP Home) has been running for a while. Also it gets quite warm.

The CD/DVD ROM drive in it died recently.
(1) the system fails to play any DVD/CD;
(2)right-clicking on “My Computer”, then “Eject” does not eject the CD
(3)running the HP Diagnostics tool gave an error message:
Combo1: Sequential Read Test:test failed, error code: 066003001).

I want to be sure I’m not killing the system slowly. So I ran SpeedFan and got the data shown below.

Fan1: 0RPM
Fan2: 0RPM
HD0: 40 – 49C (depending on how many other programs are running)
Temp1: 63 – 72C
Temp2: 26C

Is this normal? Should I interpret the 0 RPM values for the two Fans to mean that the fans are not running properly? (I do hear a humming/buzzing sound!) The values are not very different when I use a Vantec LapCool pad underneath my system!

Thanks for your help.
