How to join W2k domain as Win 95 client

By rick03y ·
I am trying to get some win 95 comuters to join our new Win 2000 domain. I created a computer account in active directory, the 95 computer has a good IP, has client for Microsoft networks configured with domain log on/quick log on set, I configuredthe identification tab and the access control is user access and to get access from the domain. But still every time I try to log on to the domain I get the error message 'The Domain password you have supplied is not correct (which it is) or accessto your logon server has been denied' I don't know what to do. I can also ping the 95 box and from the 95 box I can ping all other computers on the network. What am I missing here?

I hope this helps!! Go to www.technet.com and look for KB article Q137583. It appears to be an issue with the redirector switching between real mode and protect mode.

We had a similar problem. We found that the machine name in the id tab had a space in it and that was causing our problem.

Good luck

In order for a Win9X PC to authenticate to a Win2K domain controller, the user AND the computer must be known to Active directory. Also WINS must be used to resolve the NetBIOS names of Win9X PCs. Hope this helps.
