Task manager should be able to tell you your memory usage along with other processes running, etc.

1) Yes, the performance tab on your task manager will allow you to check your memory usage.

2) Also, if you have Professional, you can go to Computer Management - performance logs and alerts - counter logs...

You can use this utility to log the performance of your machine while you are using it. Even the default example log can be set up...log to txt...add counters for memory such as available should set the interval at about 5 seconds.

This utility can also be accessed with the performance option in administative tools.

Don't have it? You can go - run - mmc - file - add remove snapin - add - performance logs and the console to a location that you choose. The default location is in Program Files, Administrative Tools.

3) Spyware? Defrag? Clean up? Unwanted automatic startup services?

4) Page file should be manually set at 1.5 x mem and 3.0 x mem for the minimum and maximum allowed Common rule of thumb, but not necessary.

5) Your page file location can be on a seperate HD and controller. This will speed up pages significantly.
