How to lock down a directory in NT 4.0

By toni.beuttel ·
We have an insurance rating disk loaded to the server. We want to allow the users to store a quote on their C. This would prevent users from deleting the file from the server or altering in any way, yet be able to retrieve their old quotes from the own pcs.

Seperate directory with Add/Read

by bes7252 In reply to How to lock down a direct ...

Why don't you create a seperate directory on the server with Add/Read permissions and store the quotes there? You might be able to use the "start in" box on the shortcut or modify some ini setting to set the quote save location.

This would protect your rating disk and allow users to view their old quotes. Then they wouldn't lose their quotes if their HDD crashed.
