How can I get a save as pop-up window without displying a .doc file on a browser? I know I can put download to make a download option. However, I need to have a download pop-up window. In addition, I can’t make ftp directory and put my .doc file as .zip.

just use Netscape to download file it will give you pop up window automaticly

To have a download popup window, use a singular download link or button, link to a new window. Downloads

You could include a javascript that will let you open a download window and tweek the way the window is displayed.

example:

function newWindow(){
downloadWindow = window.open (‘width=300, height=200’)
}

Thank you for your input. However, my
question is not opening a pop-up window.
My question is when you download a .doc
file using IE how to get a download
prompt instead of displaying in browser.

I know this was answered, but here is what I am sometimes forced to do (especially with .pdf files). Tell the viewer to Right click and select the “Save Link As” option. This will pop up the browser download window and the document will be downloaded.
