How to Market Myself

By J-ball ·
I have recently received my NTworkstattion and Server certification. I am not working in the IT field at this time. The only experience I have is delivering and installing pc's for a volunteer organization. What titles should I apply for and whatare employees looking at as far as resumes go?

How to Market Myself

Congrats on getting your certs. Hopefully you'll continue to get the rest before the end of the year. You are going to have a hard time getting a "network" position just based on your certifications without any hands on experience. Instead you are most likely going to have the best chance getting an entry level position doing something along the lines of a support call center troubleshooting windows and pc hardware. Once you have a position like this you'll need to let the company know about your wishes to get into networking and maybe you'll get the chance to work with the network on a limited basis which will help you get some hands on experience. It may take a year or more but eventually you should be able to get into networking. Maybe even with the company you are with. Good Luck!

Certifications are only as good as the experience that backs them up... I would begin by getting into a network support position (probably in an entry-level capacity), and see if you can find someone to 'mentor' you. As time goes by, you can begin looking for promotions, or another position. Also, make sure to get your NT Enterprise Cert. - this will allow you to take the accelerated exam for Win2000 (instead of the four core)

I think your attitudes during interview and your working experience because I left a SI job for a end user postition but to date I had not found one yet.

Maybe you shall trying working in systems integration company who is in a better postition to employ you.Maybe your pay will be lower than you are drawing now.
