How to parse a file – VB6

Does anyone know how to parse a file with VB6?
I have a list of syntax words that need to be highlighted (that part works) but having those words spam the code is quite annoying.

I need a way to go

Const FUNC_OBJ as String = externalFile.txt

Or something along those lines.
Anyone have any thoughts?
