How to recognize Second Sata Drive

by e_hennen . Updated 17 years, 8 months ago

Hi everyone,

Here is my setup. I have an 160G IDE Drive with Windows XP Home Edition on it and I have a 1 Tb Seagate Sata drive setup as slave.
I see it in the bios and I see it in disk management. I had this Sata drive on another pc with Windows Xp Pro before and it was formatted to NTFS with no operating system file storage only. What I want to do it recognize it and give it a letter…
My problem is in Disk Management it see’s it as Disk 1 with a setting of Dynamic and an exclamation point over it. Just to mention nothing is visible for this drive in “my computer” When I try to Select it and right click on it it only gives me an option to Convert to Basic.. however I have vital information I have on it and do not want to lose. Any suggestions. The only thing I haven’t done cause right now I am at work is rescan disks. but it is there so I don’t think that would be an issue.

Thanks in Advance to all who reply.
