How to remove OS2 and POSIX subsystem

By dennis.irvine ·
There are procedures for removing the OS2 and POSIX subsystems from an NT 4.0 machine but they don't work on Win2K and I can't find anyway to do it. Anyone know how to remove os2 and posix from win2k?

Dennis

How to remove OS2 and POSIX subsystem

by LordInfidel In reply to How to remove OS2 and POS ...

Go here:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/tools/iischk.asp

I know it is for IIS4 but I checked the reg keys on a 2k machine and they are present.

Basically:

Hive HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE
Key \Microsoft\OS/2 Subsystem for NT
Action Delete all sub keys

Hive HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM
Key \CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment
Name Os2LibPath
Action Delete Os2LibPath key

Hive HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM
Key \CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\SubSystems
Action Delete Optional, Posix and OS/2 keys

Enjoy!
