How to restore Administrative Tools

By SciFiMan ·
Somehow my son has deleted or otherwise removed Administrative Tools so that the folder is empty on both profiles on his PC. Does anyone know how to restore this so I can run disk cleanup and such? I tried turning them off and on, and I don't see it in Add/Remove Programs under Windows components. They've been gone for some time so system restore won't help. Thanks for any help! Or does anyone know the direct commands to call up the items that are in Administrative Tools?

Just open windows explorer and right click on your C drive and go to properties. From there you will see disk cleanup. Click on the "tools" tab to get to defrag and error-checking. As far as Admin tools go you may need reinstall them using the Windows XP CD.

Navigate to c:\Windows\System32 (assuming your OS is installed on C) and find the file appwiz.cpl. If it is there, download Tweakui from http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/downloads/PowerToys/Networking/NTTweakUI.asp
Install Tweakui, open the program--click Control Panel--put a check mark by appwiz.cpl--OK.

If this doesn't work, you may need to reinstall them from the original cd.

All the tools in the Administrative tools folder point to Management Console files. Do a search on your system for *.msc and you'll find them. The administrative tools however do not include disk cleanup. That shortcut is usually in accessories/system tools. Check on your PC where all the shortcuts point to.
