How to restrict privileges to an admin!

By mkageya ·
Hi,

I would like to restrict privileges to an admin equivalent account, just to give rights
only to Password Restriction and Login Restriction of users' accounts. Also, he should be able to do this in the NDS tree except for one context.

Pls.help!

There is not an easy answer to this ques.
Now having said that I will tell you what I did to restrict my Admin from my context.
1.This is dangerous in that when you "slam the lid" on your container, if something happens to you NO ONE will have access to this container unless you have given the rights, so create a backdoor that can be used in case something happens to you. (God forbid). Example user DEADMAN password hesdead.
2. The trustee rights to your container will have some default objects that have rights to the container, leave them as trustees just take all rights from them. IE.., [PUBLIC]... you get the picture.
3. Create a container called USERS,or whatever you want to call it, in your container and copy your user objects to this new container. This will allow you to give someone rights to the user objects wthout having to give rights to other areas.

Whew!! I hope this helps.

Make sure you use an organizational role object when limiting the scope of your admin equivalents that way if you delete your admin object you can still make another...

Find Tid #10015319 at support.novell.com.

This TID goes over the detail of creating the password administrator.

They mention to assign the rights to the user in question. I prefer to create an organizational role, assigning the rights, and then making my password administrators members of the or role.
