How to save a TIF file as an OVL file

By Casemaker ·
Hi,
I have a client trying to save a TIF file as an OVL file. He tried right click and he could not save. I have left a message for him to call me and tell me what programs created the TIF and that will use the OVl. Any thoughts before hand.
Thanks

OVL is an overlay file for DOS programs... Not an image file as far as I know...

An OVL file is an overlay file for a program. a TIFF is a tagged image file format. It is possible, depending on your software to convert TIFF to OVL, and back again.

You may wish to look at this PDF http://download.support.xerox.com/pub/docs/Elixir_DPT/userdocs/any-os/en/DesignPro_Tools_(AFP)_V1.60-Getting_Started_Guide.pdf

this is specific to a specific DesignPro tool, but it may answer some of your questions too.

I have seen this mostly to convert the TIFF to an IBM iSeries for printing as an AFP file.
