How to search by time periods eg. day, month etc in .net 1.1

I have developed a search whereby users may search spare part usage by machine, by part etc, but would like to allow the user the facility to specify usage over separate time periods ie. day, month, 3 months etc probably using a radio btn list, but am not sure how to code this.
