    Locked

    by omodiagbe ·

Hello everyone i am curious to know what are the basic or most important tools needed to be able to run a computer workshop successfully?well the tools i am talking about ranges from Anti-static mat and wrist strap, data recovery tool, software and hardware troubleshooting tools etc.
I have checked the market myself but i thought that it will be nice to ask the pros that have been there and done that for good tips on what to buy and what not to

    Thanks in advance

How much $$ do you have to spend?

Ontrak data recovery I have heard is good.
      Ultimate Boot CD/ UBCD4Win is a must.

Lots of parts is good. (Processors, memory, motherboards, keyboards, mice, monitors etc)

Software for installation is a must, OEM versions will be appropriate if you build PC’s, if not then Retail versions.

Are you going to support Linux? Then DVD’s/CD’s of the current flavors.

Multimeters, soldering iron (buy a good one, One that you can control the temperature by degree’s not watts.)

Lot’s of screws and PCI covers are handy.

You may also want to carry some wireless routers.

      Just a few suggestions…

Be sure the soldering iron has a grounded tip and is low wattage, usually around 23 watts. Solder sucker or braided wick for solder removal. Another tool is a plastic wedge, used to seperate top and bottom halves of a laptop without damaging the plastic with a metal tool. A good cross section of Torq screwdrivers is essential, most mfgrs use these. A very efficient vacuum with wedge tools and small brush tips and good filter attachment is essential for cleaning up toner messes in laserjet type printers. A good antistatic cleaner and electronic cleaner that leaves no residue is important for cleaning screens and keyboards.
