How to set up a small server for my company using Win Server 2008

By alone.m ·
Hi Everyone,
I want to setup a server for my company,
We have 6 computers here, I want to buy a small server pc and install windows server 2008 on it.

The things I am looking for is these:
1. Every computer in my company will have to logon with a specific username/password which is specified on the server machine (and if the server is turned off none of the computers will have access)
2. All computers will have DeepFreeze installed and I want all the files to be accessed from server machine (there will be no files/information on the computers, only softwares...

Will I need any special software on my server machine to do these ?
Could anyone please help me out and let me know the steps I need to do in-order to setup my small server ?

Best Regards

Most of what you seek is just about setting up Group Policy

You can create policies to lock-down workstations as much as you like, and you can enforce the way users logon to the system.

It would take several dozen paragraphs to explain how to do this, but here are some links to get you started:

Note there is the SBS version of Windows 2008, which may be what you need:

And in addition to the above

If you want all 6 machines to be connected at the same time you'll need another CAL for the server.

All versions of 2008 come with 5 CAL's and as you have 6 systems you'll need an additional CAL..
