How to set up a VPN through a private network, without access to the router

by wits_fs_03 . Updated 18 years, 2 months ago

I am currently living in an apartment with free wireless internet, provided through a router. I have no idea of the brand or model of this router.

I have 4 computers of my own, and would like to be able to share files between them.

I own my own wireless router, and i have tried to set up both networks running concurrently. However, on the pc that the router is connected to, the wireless has to be disabled for the file sharing to work, and the router has to be disabled for the wireless adapter to access the internet.

Additionally, the other 3 pc’s are only able to be connected to one network at a time, thus they either have the file sharing or the internet, but never both.

I would like to change this, so that all 4 pc’s can be both on the wireless internet from the landlord, and share files with each other.

Is there a way to do this using VPN, or any other way? Keep in mind that i dont have access to the router to set up any port forwarding changes etc.
