How to set up ManageWise 2.7 in IP only

    Locked

    by kencks ·

I installed ManageWise 2.7 in a NetWare 5.0 server (with support pack 3a) that bind IP only and all modules seems run smoothly, however, my ManageWise Console get a error message “IPX ping fail to the server” when I launch the NetExplorer Manager. After I resolve this problem with TID 10014654, the error message gone. NetExplorer Manager show status connected but still cannot receive data from the server. It did work when I bind IPX to the server.

Can anyone tell me how to force the ManageWise Console/NetExplorer Manager to use IP only?? I can’t find any setting can change in the program “ManageWise Console”.

I did some research on this a while back and found out that you can’t. you can monitor ip only servers, but the main managewise server has to support both ipx and ip, all other servers can run either ipx, or ip, or both.
The only resolution I was able to come up with for my situation was to set up one server with both ipx and ip to run managwise’s netexplorer on, and install it’s managment cleint on all the other servers.

I am using Managewise 2.6 with several Netware 4.11 boxes without running NetExplorer. I have configured the traptarg.cfg file on each managed server to send alerts directly to a specific IPX MAC address, which is my Managewise Console. This also eliminates SAP broadcasts. The Traptarg.cfg file will also accept an IP address to send alerts, maybe you can try this option for an all IP network.
