How to set up printer to scan docs to PC?

By cpowers15 ·
I am trying to set up a printer/scanner etc.. (HP LaserJet M1522nf) that will allow users to scan items and send them straight to their PC.

The device is setup and they are able to print from it, just not scan (straight to their PC) There is a button on the printer that says "Scan to" and when hitting that button it says set up needs to be done on the PC.

Currently the computer doesn't recognize the device as a scanner, just a printer (all drivers are installed) and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

May not be supported

When I read through the scan instructions at the HP web site, it reads like the scan button function requires a direct connection to a specific PC.

As you have to have a scan destination programed on the host PC, and have the software running on the PC, it does not look to me like this printer supports network scanning to multiple computers.

Plus, the way the instructions read, if you are going through a server or a switch, you have no direct connection to a host PC and the scan button will not see the programed destination.

I see that the link did not paste properly.
Try this link.

That's the way it seems

I was able to get it to scan to the PC this morning, but it was via the USB cable as opposed to over the network. I may try to fiddle around with it a little today, but that may be all the further I get. Thanks for the help!

the enclosed software works to print from multiple computers, but it can only SCAN a document from one computer. It isn't recognized as a scanner over the network, it has to be plugged in via USB. I'm not sure if it supports scanning from multiple PCs

necessary to set up a share location and give the printer permissions for the upper level folder and the users their respective folders with the printer also having access?
