This shount be an issue

Hi, you should be able to set up as many domains as you want on the same subnet. Where are you having trouble?

the clients can ping each other and the DC but the DC cannot ping anything. there are no firewalls. the clients resolve the name of the DC but are unable to join the domain. "...unable to contact a DC in the domain".

the clients are able to ping computers on the other domain on the same subnet. They are still able to communicate with the other domain as they have IP conflicts.

Can i ask for som more information

by markp24 In reply to how to setup 2 domain on ...

hi,

Can i ask for some of the configuration information
1) what are the ipaddresses for the servers (DC's) and subnetmask, gateway etc
2) are the workstations addressed via DHCP? if so what is the dhcp server (router, server, etc) and its ip address, what are the address pools setup in dhcp? (and other assignments)
3) are you using WINS?
4) when you setup the new DC did you use DCpromo or the wizard when intalling windows?
5) did you set up as the first domain controller in a new domain, or an additional controller in an existing domain?

this is the only DC on the new domain
-10.1.20.2 255.255.255.0 10.1.20.5

there is a router with dhcp set up but all clients are manually configured.
no WINS
it is the first and only DC in a new domain.
