How to setup Printing with Windows NT

By watts_zack ·
In one of our labs, we have the current setup: an Apple Laserwriter printer hooked up to a windows 95 computer through parallel cable, and it is a shared computer. This printer has a network adapter. We have an NT server for that domain, and I wouldlike to setup the printer so that it prints through the network, and not through the computer.

How do I set that up using TCP/IP & Windows NT?

How to setup Printing with Windows NT

Purchase an Apple laserwriter compatible Print server. If you look up the manufacturer site, it may recommend one. see if they actually manufacture one them selves. This should either connect directly to the centronics port on the printer or give you a parallel port to attach the printer cable to, either type giving you an RJ45 connection for a network lead. The software will take you through the installation. make sure you have an available IP Address for the Print Server. Remember, all clientmachines need the software installed to create the port on it to connect.
