I have been trying to install a SonicWALL Global VPN client (version 4.6.2) on a Windows XP Media Center machine. I want to connect from home to the work network. I keep getting an error that says “The connection xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx requires the use of the SonicWALL Virtual Adapter, however this adapter cannot be found. It may have been disabled or uninstalled.” I have tried to uninstall the client. Used the Cleanup tool. I took all references to SonicWALL, GVC, and VPN from the registry. I ran Winfix and DNEUpdate. I then disabled McAfee firewall and real-time scanning, installed the new client, and still got the same error. Another computer running Vista works and a third running XP Pro also works. I thought that since two other PCs worked, that maybe it is the settings on the PC. Does the VPN client even work with XP Media Center? Also, am I missing some step in the uninstall or install? I’d appreciate any help provided.
