need 2 ethernet cables.

One going from the computer to either port 1-4
2nd one will go from the modem to router internet or wan port.

Open internet explorer and enter the following address 192.168.1.1

then a screen will prompt you for user name and password only write admin for password hit ok

Then connection type will be obtain ip automatically.

Then go to status\connection you will something stating dhcp release and dhcp renew hit release first then renew. You should see some ip address on the wan connection type if you dont turn off the turn off the router by pulling out the power, then modem, then the computer. wait about 15 seconds and turn on the modem wait 10 seconds turn on the router, then turn on the computer.

Make sure you have your lan card to obtain ip automatically and your ie settings are set to never dial a connection. tools internet option connections. also make sure your lan settings are set to automatically detect settings.

Then all you have to do is connect the second computer to router one of the ports numbers 1-4 Open ie and you should have internet. if you dont you need set the lan settings like main computer.

If you have a wireless I would change the ssid of the router to something else other than linksys!
