Whenever I log onto the net (since past couple of months), a lot of “extra” pages are “popping up” in the background.. Without my knowing it.
As a result, my download bytes are exceeding the limit I have (my internet connection payment is based on amount of MB downloaded) !

I am in a fix as to how to tackle this menace.
Can anyone please help out?
Do I have a virus or …?
I have tried blocking pop-ups, not displaying images, etc. But still of no use..
If there is a specific Anti-virus program that is good for this, please suggest. I use Windows XP, and work mainly on PowerPoint and MS-Office.
