    How to test handheld devices…

    Locked

    by linhhuy ·

    Hi All,

Is there any tool out there I can use to simulate user actions on a physical Palm or Pocket PC devices, not the emulator?

If there is no tool, how do people automate test that simulate user actions on the handheld devices?

I would parreciate your professional expertise to share with me this knowledge.

    Thanks.

      Hi,

      Take a look at…

      http://www-heva.mercuryinteractive.com/

(remove spaces from the above URL)

They specialise in load testing and regression testing software. I’m not sure whether its too resource hungry to be used on a PocketPC like the Compaq iPAQ, but a fully optioned one (memory wise) might just do it…

      Cheers,
      Tim.

I already explore this option and Mercury won’t be able to help out because it is intrusive and will take much memory resource from the PocketPC.
        Thanks for the repsonse.

There are two macro programs for the Palm OS that allow you to record keystrokes to autome certain actions. They will allow you to run pgms at a set time or after certain events.

One quick and dirty one is Botzam Recorder http://www.botzam.com, the other is MacroPlay 7.0 both are available at Palmgear.com

I don’t know if this is what you were looking for or not.

Use Gremlins available with palm emulator, or the Reporter as add on to CodeWarrior IDE.
This details the memory leak and regression testing.
