How to unlock an Excel sheet

We use an Excel sheet to record trvel expenses. The names of the employees is to be picked from a drop down list. When we tried to add new names to it, we found that the sheet is password-protected. The bloke who created it has left the organization. Is there a way we can unlock the sheet and add more names to the drop-down list?

You have a couple of options here if the person who created the document left on friendly circumstances you can always ring them and ask for the password.

If that’s not an option you’ll have to crack the password by using some password cracking tools. Depending on how secure the password is this can take between a few minutes to several days.
