How to unzip files in Window XP Home Edtion

By sybobcat ·
Can anyone please tell me how to unzip files in Window XP Home Edtion? Does it have a 'built-in' feature, or do I need to use Winzip or similar tool?

Thanks for reply...Bob

well on my version

asked a few friends and it seems to depend where you got your xp installed - seen one or two really skinny versions!

I had xp on home machine and it needed

highlight

right click

file/open with/compressed (zipped) folders

and that seemed to do the trick.

having said that, it was a dodgy and serial installation which is why I finally fled to Vista (argh!) - and a new machine! - and I have usually found Winzip to be more powerful and more reliable anyway.

I must have one of those skinny versions.

I suppose my first question should have been: Does Windows XP Home Edition have a "built-in" zip file extractor? I'm having troubles making it work.
