Our PDC + WINS + DHCP server failed and we’re having so many problems, I am planning to upgrade one of BDCs to PDC in the following day so it’s not an issue now.
I installed DHCP, WINS and DNS on another server. DHCP is working fine, however I could not have workstations to get information from WINS.
Computer names and IP were added into WINS Manager from time to time successfully, but workstation can not ping computer by name any more.
What is the method that workstations “find”the correct WINS server on the network?
I have 03, 44 and 46 added in DHCP server, is there any other thing about WINS that I missed in DHCP?
Is this because the whole domain is running without a PDC? Any way I can have them able to ping computer name before a PDC is re-established?
