Hello Folks!
HELP! I’m trying to get my boss to let me upgrade all the computer to Windows 2000 Professional with our in house intranet/web server running 2K Server. Is there any inexpensive way to upgrade them all to Windows 2000 Pro/Server without costing a small fortune? We’d looked into an Open License, but it was going to cost near $300 per machine when I can get an OEM copy of 2000 Pro for $130.00 and do a fresh install. We have a couple of workstations that are getting to be really unstable (mine being one of them) and the server is running Windows 98. My station will do a “Not Responding” on My Computer frequently (we’re talking 5 times in 8 hours) whenever I try to access any of my networked drives – F: being the office file server and G-J being the IS File Server. Any ideas what’s causing this? As far as I know, none of my other PCs are having this problem. ANY help is appreciated.
The other thing is that we may be getting a new server by year’s end, so I don’t want todo too much upgrading in preparation for the new server. I prefer to keep our file server & Intranet server separated as I also use the intranet server as my file server.
