How to : website IIS 6.0 with user auth.

By [YG]Sharza ·
This is gonna be a tricky one. Im migrating from using Apache HTTP server 1.3.xx to IIS 6.0 in Win2003 Enterprise Server.

What I need, Is someone that can explain to me step by step, about the account addressing scheme in windows 2003 combined with the access to resources on the machine.

The server is NOT a domain controller or member of a domain

There is no use of active directory.

The server is member of the workgroup "shadow".

I have created a website for "www.youngguns.dk" with its respective header.

I have set permissions for the folder \www\html\members to require basic authentication and disabled anonymous access.

I have then allowed access permissions (all read) to this folder by "Clan YG members" group along with inherited permissions (administrator from root).

Now the questions is how the **** do I address a correct user account.

Apache uses authorization on a application level, however seems that IIS uses authorization on OS/network level.

It will not even allow YG-Server\administrator or just administrator.

How do I define correct users and address them during login? Any help here will be greatly appreciated!

L8r,
Kenneth
