howto make a seminar report ?

By zuidema ·
Hello,

I've been to a seminar yesterday, and now my boss wants a report about the seminar. I have never made such a report and I have no clue what I should put in it.
I realy could use some help with the overall info i should put in the report.

howto make a seminar report ?

by erikdr In reply to howto make a seminar repo ...

Hi Peter,

a) Looks like a bit large reward for a simple question.
b) Which is not especially NT-related, but then...

c) My halfpenny, I went to a seminar also earlier this week (typical Dutch corporate culture??? :-):
1] Outline based on thesessions or subtopics that the seminar contains.
2] For each outline point, write at least a few lines and at most a few paragraphs summarising the main points which you found helpful and relevant.
3] At the end, add some concluding paragraphs / remarks. At least one of the conclusion points should point to the relevance of the material for your work and that of the audience (boss, colleagues...). Maybe also follow-up topics mentioned at the seminar which you are going to research on, or which you propose within your team...

Hope thiz helpz,

<Erik> - The Netherlands

Hi Peter, I basically agree with Erik's format. Most seminars are set up in some kind of outline format that should give you your organization:
For example:
Overall objective of the seminar: to help people implement web controls for SQL server

Section I: SQL and the web
-main point
subpoints
- main point
subpoints

Section II: implementing
brief description of setup
- possible scenario #1
- possible scenario #2
- possible scenario #3

In a section such as this you could write a couple of evaluative paragraphs pointing out the advantages and disadvantages as they apply to your company

Section III: development tools
Let's say the seminar in my hypothetical example discussed tools for customization. Outline what they are and probable costs involved
Again, a paragraph about applicability to your particular company

Section IV: review
Here a paragraph or two that reflects back upon your outline and draws out the most compelling advantages and disadvantages ofthe information presented. Here you might consider the benefits of the product versus training and licensing fees.
The idea is to keep you ideas in logical groupings and tie the ideas back to how they may or may not help the operations of your company. Hope this helps.
