HP 530 Notebook USB Port Problems

By tieniemyburgh ·
Hi there,
Please I need help with the USB Ports on my HP 530 Notebook.

Due to a Software (Windows Vista) and a upgrade in Memory (Ram), I reloaded Vista and all worked fine except the USB Ports. I then Reloaded / Revert to Win XP Pro and all is working well except the USB Ports.

I went to HP's website and downloaded all the drivers, including the Chipset files.

I installed the files / drivers in the following sequence:

1. Chipset Files
2. Universal Audio Driver
3. Audio Driver
4. Modem Driver
5. Graphics Driver
6. Wireless Driver
7. Network Driver

All is working perfectly, except the USB Ports.

In Device Manager:
1. Under Other Devices it picks up:
? Unknown Devices

2. Under Universal Serial Bus Controllers it picks up:
Intel? N10/Ich7 Family USB Universal Host Controller 27C8
Intel? N10/Ich7 Family USB2 Universal Host Controller 27CC
Unknown Device
Unknown Device
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub

During the Start-up of my notebook all starts up ok, but then it picks-up that there is a error with a certain USB Device and twice notify me the following down in the bottom Toolbar:

USB Device Not Recognized
One of the USB devices attached to this computer has
malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.
For assistance in solving this problem, click this message.

Please take note that there are no dives connected into either of the USB Ports.

Please help me I am out of ideas.

Go to intel's website and download the INF file for the USB host controller. They also have an up-to-date chipset file that may improve performance. It helped my Dell a lot.

Then go to the Device Manager and delete all of the USB devices, including the hubs, controllers and everything.

Then reboot and let hardware discovery re-load the drivers and see if it finds the best drivers that work properly.
