HP CD Writer

Have a HP CD Write cd4e series running off the USB port on Acer Extensa notepad PII266 128Ram.

The HP RecordNow software crashes when you are at the writing stage.

There isn't any conflict. Have re-installed software and devices, checked that DMA is running of CD device and Hard drive.

What else could it be?

Has it ever worked? The answer, crappy software, that stuff seems to work less of the time than it does. Sorry if this seems flip, but I've been having similar difficulties, and just hate that software, try something else, there are demos and freeware that work better. If you have another usb device you might check to see it's working. I've alsso had problems with the brand of blank being used, for instance HP's don't seem to like sony disks. Probably not much help, but there it is.
