I have installed an older HP CD-Writer (7200i) in my new Dell Optiplex GX110 that is running Windows 2000 Pro. The drive is recognized a CD drive and I can read CDs from the drive. The drive has the firmware 3.01 update and I have installed Adaptec CD Creator 4.02. When I try to write to a new CD the system locks up. I can do the task bar end task routine and get system unlocked sometimes. The only thing that really works each time is to eject the CD I am trying to write to. Is there someway I can make this old hardware device work with the new OS and new app software?
