    HP CDRW

    Locked

    by pcross ·

I have installed a Hp CDRW model 9110i and installed adaptec ez-creator 3.5 and the burner only writes on onehalf of the software in other words if I install cd creator and direct cd the direct cd only works. If I remove direct cd it works on cd creator and the reverse is also true. I have bumped up to 4.0 deluxe and the same is true. My burner is on the secondary IDE and is the master. This is a 233mhz intel, with soltek VIA APOLLO SL-54U5/U1 mobo. Any solutions?

Technical support from the Web Site:

      Q. Can I run Easy CD Creator and DirectCD for Windows on the same computer?
      A. Yes. Just remember to eject any DirectCD discs from your CD recorder before you try to use Easy CD Creator.

Got to the website and get the patch for your version.

Try contacting Roxio if this doesn’t help, it may be a specific problem or one not listed.

I tried that and I do eject any direct cd before trying easy cd creator. I have also installed all patches and terminated the scsi driver by renaming the extension.

I would run an msconfig from the START–>RUN menu then select selective start-up. Next uncheck if not already unchecked process autoexec.bat and process config.sys. Next select the startup tab and uncheck everything but system tray, and scan registry. Reboot then try to burn a cd using ezcd. If this doesn’t fix the problem e-mail me I have more info that it could be.

You might try sticking the cd-writer on the secondary slave setting. Does your software install all the way, or do you get a blue screen or a lockup? If it is a blue screen it points toward conflicting vxd’s. I would suggest calling hp cdwriter support. Are you running norton anti-virus software while installing the software? If so it causes an error, it thinks that the install is a virus. You might check on http://www.hp.com to see if there are any firmware updates to fix this problem. You might also copy the disk to your desktop and try installing it from safe mode, this may take longer but in safe mode there are less drivers to contend with.
      Hope this helps some,

I have tried on secondary slave and it does not work on any part of the software then, also I have installed the firmware update. I do turn everything off during install. I have not tried during safe mode, never has made any difference before. My software also installs fully, except for when I need it to work on ez cd creator, I don’t install direct cd. I have resigned myself to using only the ez cd creator part.
