HP CDWriter Won’t burn MP3’s

by eujay . Updated 25 years, 1 month ago

I have a friend/client who recently rebuilt her PC. As part of the rebuild she had a HP CDWriter R/W drive installed. This works ok when writing data but will not burn MP3 files.

It is installed as the slave to a read only CD Rom drive. Both ofthese are on the secondary IDE bus.

Operating system is Windows 98 and she has installed Adaptec Easy Cd Creator which comes with the drive. The drive was bought new from a computer store.

I Haven’t seen the insides of the PC yet but I believethe mobo/processor is a fairly new AMD.

I have looked all over the HP website for drivers for the R/W. I have also tried www.drivers.com I had her try Nero Cd Burning software on it. None of these approaches worked.

Do HP Cd Writers have a known software issue, has anybody else had this kind of problem with them ? Is there a hardware/compatability issue here ?

Are there any “general issue” CD R/W drivers that can be used on this device or do we have to stick with the HP drivers

Any help you can give me on this one is much appreciated.

Thanks

Eujay
