I’m trying to connect an HP Color Laserjet 1600 to my boss’ HP tx1000 running Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP1 (you’d think HP computers would run HP printers just fine?). After installing, I did a test page, and the print spooler hung up, and would just crash. I’d tried NET START SPOOLER, but it’d just crash again quickly. I tried deleting the printer from the Printers folder, but it would either hang (even past a restart!) or I was denied access to settings because the spooler service wasn’t working. I would have to manually delete the printer and its driver, after which the other printers attached through the network worked just fine. My boss really wants his personal printer to work, though, and I’m at a loss. Any ideas?
