My printer display keeps flashing "Perform Printer Maintenance". How do I get this to go away?

Gina:
HP wants you to purchase a Printer Maintenance kit. You can get them at Staples or just about anywhere. not sure how much thewy cost. You can read about it at:

Hello Gina,

The printer keeps track of how long it has been used and displays the message to prompt you to perform maintenance (cleaning, replacing fuser, replacing rollers, etc.). Your printer should probably be serviced.

Want to "cheat"? You can get rid of the message by resetting the printer's counters. The counters can be reset on some versions of the HP LaserJet 4000 by doing the following:

- Turn the power off.

- Hold down ITEM & VALUE keys

- Turn the power on, wait until RESET MAINTENANCE COUNT is displayed, and release the keys.

Did this fix it for you?
