HP Laserjet 4200 randomly goes offline

By Numbies ·
I have the above printer connected to the network and shared via our Windows 2000 server. For no apparent reason, the printer goes offline about once a day and all printing obviously stops for all my users.

If anyone has a solution for this I would really appreciate the help.

I had the same problem on the LAserjet 4100. It was caused by the printer running out of paper. Once it was empty it wouldn't print for anyone once it was refilled. I got round it by restarting the print spooler on the server when it happened.
I am not sure where, but in the print driver is a setting to stop it pausing when empty. If you type in the IP address of the printer, the option should be on the web managemtn console.
